His sire, Marinero de Colombia, and his grand sire Majestuoso, are pure Colombian, in fact they both were imported into the US from Colombia.
Marinero de Colombia has sired several outstanding horses, the most noted is Imperio, who was twice Grand National Pleasure Champion. For a pictures of this beautiful stallion, that looks just like Marinero himself, click here.
MAJESTUOSO  is still alive at 26 years, and has been on the Top Ten Sire list for 12 years in a row. In 2001 the 2 top mares on the Top10 Mares list were his daughters.
Majestuoso goes back to RESORTE I .

Majestuoso has a reputation for passing on his gait, good conformation and his size. His offspring have won in fino classes ( very slow and collected, short quick steps), but what's important to us is that they also won national championships in performance classes (where the horse has to show a range of speed in gait from collected to fast and extended), and in conformation classes (Bella Forma).
Dumas's dam goes back to the famous KOFRESI, a Puerto Rican stallion that many of the noted Largo horses of today have in his pedigree. Note: Kofresi and Triunfo (grand sire of our brood mare Della), have the same sire, BATALLA. , who was a very famous Puerto Rican stallion, passing on his "Barb" style.
Dumas' dam also goes back to ANFITRION , GAUCHO and
RESORTE I  on her dam's side.
Those names show up a lot in the pedigrees of horses that are winning today!
Dumas is my favorite riding horse on the ranch, fast, smooth, great canter, great gait (trocha, corto, largo), never tires.
Unbelievable disposition, always happy and eager to please. Whether it's reining, cutting, or team penning, we are learning together and out to beat the Quarter Horses!
This year we also started endurance riding. Dumas took me on three exciting 25 mile races, and even though we never came close to winning, we sure passed a lot of horses, mostly Arabians! Their riders sure envied me as they bounced along and watched Dumas glide by! His vet scores were outstanding and are proof of the breed's toughness and stamina.
What makes him so dear to me is how trustworthy he is in all situations.  Sure-footedand fast, he can fly over any ground, uphill or downhill, and make it easy on the rider.
He always watches out for the rider around trees and branches, and keeps his cool when everything goes wrong with the cattle. Even though he is so spirited, he is rarely hard to handle and can usually be ridden alongside mares in season, or geldings or stallions without any fuss. He is very gentle with all small animals, newborn foals, dogs or cats, and lives with his small bunch of mares year around. In his pasture he is quite protective of the mares, and charges around guarding the fences so other horses or cattle won't dream of intruding. Yet he is always happy to get haltered and go riding, trusting that his mares will still be there when he comes back He has a deep bond with people and is very focused on the rider's wishes when ridden.
This fall he was my riding horse for taking the Canadian Equestrian Rider Level tests for western riding,  and helped me pass level 1,2, 3 and 4 with excellent scores.  To do this he had to perform as he would in a western pleasure class, and also run several reining patterns, with spins, canter departures from a stand, simple lead changes, gallops and slow circles at a canter, and roll backs and stops.  He also had to do a half- pass at jog speed, and got top points for it. His performance proves how athletic and trainable a gaited horse can be!

SierraVistas Ultimo Tango, aka. Banjo,
1996 palomino stallion

banjo1 14.1 hh.  SOLD

Sire: Premio Pintado Sin Par --- Dam: Espejo's Delicia (Della)
Banjo's sire is a grandson of  the foundation sire El Pastor, while his dam is a granddaughter of the foundation sire Hilachas!

Banjo was the greatest little horse!  He even had 2 month training with a professional reining horse trainer who was very impressed.
At the local fair he raked in the ribbons in classes like : gaited pleasure, trail, and obstacle driving. His sweet disposition and calm temperament made everybody fall in love with him.
He left us two incredibly beautiful  fillies out of Quarter Horse mares, that will be bred to Dumas to raise Single-Footing horses:.  Both are registered with the new Canadian Paso Fino Partbred  Registry.

BROOD MARES:

DELLA, reg. as ESPEJO'S DELICIA, 1981 black mare, 14.2 hh. (Star, white socks, few flaxen hairs in mane and tail). PFHA
Deceased.
My friend riding Della and helping with the cows della
She was a beauty!
Sire: Espejo que tal --- Dam: Ora y Blanca T
Della is a granddaughter of the Colombian Foundation sire Hilachas, (RESORTE I ), she is also a granddaughter of the famous Puerto Rican TRIUNFO , who is a son of BATALLA> DULCE SUENO . That's as close to the old bloodlines as you can get with a horse that is still actively breeding! Almost all horses in her pedigree just two generations back were imported into the US.
Pretty as a picture! Took quite a few dudes for rides on the ranch when she wasn't in foal. She went anywhere you pointed  her, no questions asked. Great heart, she would go until she drops. Never broke gait, very smooth, nice canter. Quick and catty. Tons of personality.  We gave her away when she got old and needed extra care, and she was actually in foal when she suffered an accident, slipping on ice and breaking her hip.

She has left us three foals:
Banjo (SierraVistas Ultimo Tango) - 1996 palomino stallion (sold)- see picture below, Espeja LV - 1999chestnut filly( for sale), and Della Rica - 2001 chestnut filly.
Della has passed on this winter.  She will be geatly missed.

Cheetah .
Sire: Varon --- Dam: Sombra Fabulosa     Click here for pedigree
Cheetah came from California and is a granddaughter of CARMIN , pure Colombian, who is out of RESORTE IV , one of the most famous recent Colombian stallions, who goes back to Don Danilo.
On her dam's side is a mix of horses from Colombia and Puerto Rico.
Half of the horses only two generations back in her pedigree were imported into the US.
Used on the ranch for 3 years, she impressed us with her keen attitude and quickness. Great little riding horse, smooth gait with great range, very tough and sure footed, successfully finished an endurance ride while she was pregnant. Smart and easy to train.
Cheetah left us 8 foals, all from Dumas, all very correct with a lot of presence and a great disposition!

PFHA #29,309    14.1HH.
SOLD
flame I had looked for a long time to find a mare with Coral laCE breeding, that suited me in temperament and looks, --- and had the gait I was looking for!
Flame is very smooth and balanced, surefooted, fast and quick in her turns,  and has a long stride. A pretty mare with lots of personality that is wonderful to be around. She has strong legs and a stocky  conformation.
She throws beautiful big foals with largo gait and lots of chrome!

Flame's sire is Coral's Rapido de Vez: tall, beautiful and FAST!
She had 3 foals from Dumas TM:
She had her first foal In 2005, a bay filly, and it's something to watch it gait.  It breaks to gait from a canter and just flies!  This filly will be quite stout and fairly tall, and I can't wait to get my saddle on it!  Wait until I get a 2007 picture of this one. Brio, brio, brio!!!
Flame had  beautiful big pinto filly in 2006, and a bay filly in 2007!!!!!
